Jr. NBA Philippines 2018 presented by Alaska holds its first Regional Selection Camp for the year in Bacolod City at the Trinity Christian School on February 10 and 11 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
This is a press release from Jr. NBA Philippines.
Boys and girls aged 10 to 14 in Bacolod and nearby cities and provinces in the Visayas are invited to participate and take advantage of the NBA’s international youth development program.
The Jr. NBA Regional Selection Camp runs for two days and gives participants the chance to join a learn-and-achieve camp that will test their physical and basketball smarts through vitals tests, NBA style skills tests and basketball drills.
Participants undergo tests and skills challenges on Day 1 where those with the highest scores earn the right to move on to Day 2. More basketball drills and team exercises await participants on Day 2. Scrimmages in the afternoon help select the most outstanding players who will represent the Visayas in the National Training Camp which will be held in Manila from May 19 to 20, 2018.
The Camp will be run by Jr. NBA Coaches Carlos Barroca and Rob Newson together with Jr. NBA Philippines coaches led by PBA Legend Jeffrey Cariaso and Alaska coaches.
Participation in the Regional Selection Camp and all other stages of the Jr. NBA Program are absolutely free. The program stages consist of touring School Clinics, Regional Selection Camps, the National Training Camp and a unique, overseas NBA experience together with fellow Jr. NBA All-Stars from Southeast Asia later this year.
After Bacolod, Jr. NBA Regional Selection Camps will be held in Butuan (February 24-25), Baguio (March 17-18) and Manila (April 21-22).
The National Training Camp is the third phase of the Jr. NBA program where 8 Jr. NBA and 8 Jr. WNBA All-Stars will be chosen from among the top participants in the regional selection camps.
“For the past 10 years, Jr. NBA Philippines has established itself as a platform to improve the youth basketball experience and promote an active and healthy lifestyle among the Filipino youth,” said NBA Philippines Managing Director Carlo Singson. “Together with Alaska, we are committed to providing proper guidelines to how the game should be played and taught to more youth, coaches and parents in the country.”
Registration for the Regional Selection Camps is now ongoing through the Jr. NBA event website www.jrnba.asia where full program terms and conditions can be found.
