Almost every young male celebrity decides to break away from the boy-next-door image. At some point, achieving a more adult physique becomes a priority. But pursuing their body goals isn’t as easy as making girls swoon over them. Here are some of the teen stars who surprised their fans by transforming from skinny boys to hunks.
Debuting as a lead actor Diary ng Panget alongside girlfriend Nadine Lustre, James is now among a sought-over star. He started as a housemate in Pinoy Big Brother in 2010, and he eventually won. After years of being a skinny matinee idol, James worked his way in achieving a bulkier body through having a closely-monitored high-protein and low-carb diet.
Alden says discipline contributes to a successful diet. According to the Pambansang Bae, the limitations that come with a diet plan are often depriving, but is worth the sacrifice in the long run. The 26-year old Eat Bulaga host and one-half of the insanely popular love team AlDub sustains his buff body through regular visits to the gym. Alden also values an all-meat type of diet, avoiding carbs and sweets.
After being the finalist of the second season of Protégé: The Battle for the Big Artista Break in 2012, Ruru now has a list several dramas to his name. In 2016, Ruru was cast in the remake of Encantadia. As preparation for his role as Ybarro, Ruru started to work out to achieve a bulkier body through cardio, weightlifting, and other exercises. Ruru shares that his secret to maintaining his body is through high-protein and low-carb diet.
Avoiding fast food, soda, and sweets is Derrick Monasterio’s way of keeping a fit body. As for gym work, he lifts 20-pound dumbbell, suspends himself in shoulder taps, and does the wiper exercise. Despite the struggle that comes with the high-intensity exercises, Derrick says that the ‘physically demanding’ routines are an essential part of his work as an actor.
Following his father’s legacy, Francis M., Elmo used to do rap performances in a noon time tv show Sunday PinaSaya where he used to be paired with Julie Ann San Jose. After starring in some GMA shows, Elmo transferred to ABS-CBN and is now paired with Janella Salvador. When it comes to his fitness, Elmo reveals that he follows the 70 percent diet and 30 percent exercise rule.
The former love team partner of Kathryn Bernardo, Kristoffer visits the gym three to five times a week. Being a competitive swimmer at a young age, he incorporates his workout routine with the sport for his cardiovascular exercise. He also used to be a volleyball player.
Emerging as the First Prince in Starstruck, Enzo Pineda is proud to have achieved the physique he has today. Enzo transferred to ABS-CBN in 2016, and is currently one of the stars of Bagani. Enzo’s workout routine includes cardiovascular exercises such as boxing. It improves the cardio functions, maintains weight, and develops body endurance.
