After two decades, the UP Fighting Maroons are back at the UAAP men’s basketball tournament Final Four, at the expense of DLSU Green Archers, 97-81.
The Maroons kept a 20-point lead most of the game. The Gomez de Liaño brothers—who’ve been consistently pulling off remarkable performance since the beginning of the season—were instrumental in ending the league’s longest active Final Four drought.
With the win, UP secured their slot in the third seed, and is set to face the twice-to-beat Adamson Soaring Falcons.
The last season where the Maroons reached the Final Four was UAAP 60 in 1997.
If that’s not a showcase of skills with ‘puso,’ we don’t know what is.
