UNSTOPPABLE. Filipino martial artists continue their domination in the ONE Championship league after emerging triumphant in their ONE: Conquest of Champions bouts.
Brandon Vera remains the reigning and undisputed heavyweight king after finishing off Mauro Cerilli via knockout, in 1 MINUTE AND 4 SECONDS OF THE FIRST ROUND of One: Conquest of Champions held last night, at the Mall of Asia Arena, in Pasay.
Vera made quick work of his Italian challenger with a well-placed left hook to the jaw.
In the post-fight interview, Vera says, “Kolektahin natin lahat ng belts,” eliciting a loud cheer from the hyped arena crowd.
Eduard Folayang redeems himself as he is back at being the ONE Championship lightweight world champion via unanimous decision.
Folayang dominated the five thrilling rounds of his bout against Singaporean Amir Khan, executing combinations of spinning heel kicks and sharp elbows.
“Blessed me the Lord God, who taught my hand how to fight and blessed me in the victory,” says Folayang.
BACK IN FORM
Former ONE Championship featherweight world champion Honorio Banario outlasted his Singaporean foe Rahul Raju via three-round unanimous decision.
It was a competitive match of striking exchanges but Banario managed to take control of the last frame, almost ending it with a rear naked choke.
ON THE RISE
Meanwhile, Jeremy Miado finished off China’s Peng Xue Wen via second round technical knockout. Punching from different angles, Miado dropped his opponent to the mat with a stinging right uppercut, followed by more solid blows that forced the halt.
Their victories add to Philippines’s supremacy which now has a total of five world championships: Brandon Vera (Heavyweight), and Team Lakay superstars Eduard Folayang (Lightweight), Kevin “The Silencer” Belingon (Bantamweight), Geje “Gravity” Eustaquio (Flyweight), and Joshua “The Passion” Pacio (Strawweight).
