No new year present is better than the gift of life.
“New year, new baby! Baby Mamba on the way 2019,” Kobe and Vanessa Bryant both posted on their Instagram accounts just hours ago, expecting their fourth child together.
The retired NBA legend also wrote that they are beyond excited to welcome the newest addition to their family. Vanessa, who is just as elated, said that she looks forward to letting the ‘baby mamba’ play with her siblings: 15-year-old Natalia, 12-year-old Gianna, and 2-year-old Bianka.
The couple tied the knot in 2001. But contrary to Kobe’s glory days in the NBA—Five-time champion and 18-time All-Star, only a few among his wealth of accomplishments—his marriage wasn’t picture perfect; in 2011, Vanessa filed for a divorce. It was then called off in 2013.
Today, the Bryant family continues to grow, and their relationship only gets stronger.
Meanwhile, with another daughter, people’s assumption is obvious: Kobe wants a son. But in an interview with extratv last year, the 40-year-old was quoted to have said: “I think Vanessa wants a boy more than I do.”
Whether or not the couple has plans to make the family bigger, it is noteworthy to know that just another child—be it a girl or a boy—completes a starting five.
