Having a full-time day job in events marketing is not an impediment for Natalie Cruz’s road to active lifestyle. In fact, she manages to attend numerous fitness activities despite her busy schedule, among which are her kettlebell training and steel mace class; these activities are not merely matters of interest, for they have become her lifestyle.
As a testament to that, Natalie is the first Filipina to have attained Kettlebell Master of Sport. On February 23, Natalie will conduct her self-developed innovation called the KB Pro Flow, a three-hour workshop on the basic kettle movements that will challenge the participants to move in all planes of motion, keep their core engaged, and maintain their balance and coordination.
Natalie also is a triple certified Steel Mace teacher, and recently having come up with another first in the Philippines called Fluid Steel. More like a movement practice than a workout, it combines both steel mace training and mace flow methods, representing the combination of fitness and art.
Referencing Mace Flow guru Leo Savage, Natalie believes that a healthy life is fulfilled when you “do something beautiful with your strength.” With that in mind, this 26-year old De La Salle University graduate has co-founded Fit Access PH in 2016. The program aims to provide holistic fitness solutions that are tailor-fit to its clients’ goals and needs—achieved through personal coaching, nutritional guidance, and offerings of the latest workout routines.
Before Natalie provides you with quality tips to help you build from the ground up, MBody gives you some of them first.
How have you been preparing for summer?
Nothing crazy, really. I live a healthy and active lifestyle. I don’t find it necessary to prepare for anything aside from living and creating.
Do you follow a specific diet plan to help you achieve your goals? Tell us about it.
Since 2017, I have been transitioning to a plant-based lifestyle. I have ditched red meat for a couple of years before I decided to completely adopt veganism. Life is just simpler this way. I perform better too.
What specific workout routines do you do the most to achieve a summer-ready body?
I follow a Kettlebell training program. On other days, I create my own steel mace & kettlebell flow programs. Find a movement that works with you, and eat what nature has provided us. Do this and you won’t have to worry about “preparing” for summer.
With all these summer preparations, what are your plans for the season?
Hold more Fluid Steel classes and put mace in hands! I just want to get the word out there and help people express themselves through this beautiful movement practice.
